Private slaughtering is welcome at the abattoir. However, we would like to emphasise the rules for private slaughter at the SAFAM Beaufort West abattoir. Any farmer on our approved list may privately slaughter their Karoo Lamb. Please ensure that the abattoir marks and stamps the lamb as Karoo Lamb. Then the lamb must be given to a registered packaging facility and labeled as Karoo Lamb for sale on your own terms and prices in the market.
